I bet I'm not the only one who loves Trader Joe's skincare :)

I bet I'm not the only one who loves Trader Joe's skincare :)

I know I am not the only one who doesn’t mind trying the personal care stuff from Trader Joe’s. The price makes it easy and fun to check out. I am very partial to the blueberry & acai scrub, which is a lot more effective than I thought it would be. I love the organic argan oil, too. Here is a list of favorite Trader Joe’s personal care products from Well + Good.

While it is hard to say exactly what percentage of what we put on our skin gets absorbed, it is clear that some of it does. Parabens have been connected with breast cancer risk and an unnecessary amount of personal care product ingredients contain ingredients that negatively impact hormones.

In the study referenced by Webmd in this article, it is clear that placing products on the skin can become another point of entry for chemicals that are likely not helpful to our overall wellbeing.

While I do think Trader Joe’s products are better choices than a fair amount of what remains at both department store and pharmacy stores, it’s yet another “read the labels’ endeavor. Quite a few Trader Joe’s products still include fragrance, which is code name for up to 200 hidden ingredients that companies don’t have to spell out. SO please continue to read labels and let’s educate ourselves.

Environmental Working Group is a great source of product safety information. They have compiled a database full of thousand of products rated for the safety of their ingredients. They even have a convenient app and are often putting out great information for all of us consumers seeking safer stuff.
