The first part of the process of manifestation is sort of a pre-game, if you will. It requires that you either believe or choose to believe that you are the creator of your life. It is perhaps the hardest step because it means that we accept that we are responsible for everything that happens in our lives.
The rest of this equation is something that many people get themselves completely caught up on. If you believe that you create everything in your life, you sort of kind of have to believe that your thoughts and feelings have energy and that they attract things on a similar frequency to them.

Here’s Some Proof It Works
All of us analytical minds who love proof have trouble getting through this. We want proof and we can cite a myriad of situations to prove this is false.
But what if it were true? What if our energy, whether positive or negative, brought us circumstances to match? Would we want to choose the better energy and occurrences?
So now what do we do about the fact that you don’t believe that this is the true governing force that manages your life? ;)
The simplest example of the concept of manifestation and the idea that like emotions attracting things that generate more of the same emotion is to think about those mornings where everything seems to go wrong. You forget an important meeting. You re stuck in traffic and late to pick your child up. You stub your toe. You spill your coffee. You think it is going to be one of those days.
Next time you start having one of those days when you see a couple of things going less than your way, switch your thoughts to work on calming your feelings. Better yet, do some deep, elongated breathing and help change your energy. It works. The snowball that is becoming your day stops growing bigger when you calm down.
One of my favorite things to do to remind myself of the power of manifestation is to think of a person and vividly imagine seeing them in a specific place. I don’t always see them in that particular place, but if I imagine giving them a hug and a bit of our conversation, within a couple of days, I run into them even if I have seen them in months.
I asked to move to California before we got the chance to move there. Not only did I ask, but I imagined I was getting ready to leave. Two weeks later, with no practical plans to move made, we had an unexpected offer that facilitated the move.
I asked for money to help us buy a California-costing house by the beach because I didn’t want to touch our savings. Then I went through the feelings that we already had it, that is was a fact in my present reality, andÂ we got offered the money - twice. I turned it down both times, but it was further evidence to me that while I can’t tell you why the process works, it definitely does.
Tips & Tricks
So, lesson one is believe in the process of manifestation by believing that we create everything in our reality whether with our thoughts and our feelings or through our feelings alone. I don’t see the energy waves that bring sound to my radio, but I don’t doubt they’re there.
Here are a few key ways to get into the correct mindset to begin manifesting:
Don’t Go Backward
Skip going back over the past and explaining to yourself how you didnâ€™t create the events in question. ;)
Accept Your Power
Accept and remind yourself that you create everything that you experience. Instead of feeling overwhelmed or resistant to this idea (which can be easily to do and very valid), remember that you have a partner in your creation and it is the energy from which we all came. The source of all things is either energy waves, God, or whatever term that speaks to you. We go through the manifestation process together. This co-creation brings with it a great sense of peace and ease. Our roles are clearly established and creation becomes fun instead of burdensome.
Tune Into Your Frequency
Become aware of your thoughts and how they connect with how you feel. Are you thoughts largely complaint-filled? Positive? The best way to generate the right energy to bring good things your way is to feel good in the present.
Be Thankful - Daily
Begin a gratitude process. Give thanks for at least 10 things a day that you are grateful for that are in your life now. Then give thanks for at least 10 things that you would like in your life as if you already have them.
Practice Emotional Intelligence
Become aware of your waves of emotion throughout the day and practice changing them. Practice cultivating positive feelings. This is a practice so it may take practice. :) I first discovered a loving blissful feeling at yoga. Then I took time in my daily meditation and in bed at night to practice â€œturning onâ€ this feeling. It did take some practice but now I can do it anywhere, anytime and it is sooooo useful. For a bit of help, try listening to a favorite song, visualizing a favorite memory or thinking of a family member you love.
As we begin to observe our emotions and energy through the day, we begin to create a space between us and our automatic responses. In that space, we have the power to choose something better. When we choose a calmer feeling, a more positive response, or simply to calm down instead of going down a endless spiral of negative thought, we not only calm and empower ourselves, but we also change our energy.
Suspend Your Disbelief
So I know it can be a bit more than challenging to truly believe without a doubt that you are the creator of your entire life, but try to see it as like the most exciting concept ever. It does truly mean that whatever you would like, you can have (as long as it is consistent with your best self and not to directly or indirectly harm another). That can be both empowering and overwhelming, but you never are entirely on your own in the process. Plus, I am fullllll or tips and tricks. ;) So for now, suspend your disbelief and begin to sweet talk your resistance. When the guy is scaling the building and the decides to jump from rooftop to rooftop and doesnâ€™t fall or get hurt, you somehow skip the implausibility and belief it for the sake of the movieâ€™s more redeeming qualities. This is the best movie you may ever see because it teaches the empowering truth that we can really have whatever we want. And, not to ruin the ending or anything, most of what you want is because you know it will make you feel happy, empowered, free, in love all the time. Once you learn to manage your feelings, you can get all your future whatever by feeling great now.
That’s it! You have finished lesson one and now it is time to put the tips and tricks into practice. If you hit doubts or keep forgetting to practice, come back here for a refresher. I always found it easiest to work my way through a complete manifestation or spiritual guide first once or twice and then give each portion of the process a week or two to of focused practice to begin to internalize it.
